Tides of Magic: Mermaids of the Great Salt Lake at the Mystic Realms Fair 2025

For the third year in a row, the Mermaids of the Great Salt Lake made the inland voyage to Pocatello, Idaho, to perform at the Mystic Realms Fair—a three-day celebration of Renaissance wonder, fantasy creatures, and timeless imagination. This fair has become a cherished part of our yearly rhythm, and each return feels more like coming home.

Day One: Arrival and Enchantment

Our pod this year included Lady Ainé, Shellsea, Galene, Mermaid Moon, and Skye, joined by our beloved service dog, Jasper—who greeted guests with tail wags and dignity befitting a sea knight.

We were overjoyed to debut a brand-new pool, generously provided and installed by Deneb and Cap’n, the fair’s incredible organizers. Their care and support meant so much to us, and it made a big difference in our setup and guest interactions.

Day Two: Magic in Full Flow

Saturday was filled with performances, smiles, and sweet conversations with curious fairgoers. With invaluable behind-the-scenes help from our handlers Lyle and DJ, we were able to stay cool, hydrated, and focused on the magic. We shared ocean stories, took photos with visitors, and met young merlings who reminded us just how powerful imagination can be.

Day Three: Farewells and Reflection

As the fair came to a close, we were flooded with hugs, waves, and promises of next year. One small child, who’d visited us every day, returned just to say goodbye—it’s those moments that stay in our hearts.

The Mystic Realms Fair is more than just an event—it’s a community that celebrates joy, inclusion, and the art of fantasy. We’re honored to return year after year and thankful for the opportunity to represent the merfolk among such beautiful magic.
